We can make a difference together for our libraries to promote life-long learning through information literacy instruction that is integrated with the library activities.

It was founded in 1990 and granted its registration in 1992.
Member of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and the Congress of Southeast Asian Librarians (CONSAL).

The mission of the Myanmar Library Association is:
- To promote the use of libraries and awareness of the role and value of libraries and librarianship in society
- To support the professional development of librarians and provide library education to all communities
- To empower the library community and promote high standards of library practice
- To facilitate and encourage cooperation between libraries and governmental and non-governmental organizations nationwide and internationally
